Christmas is all about religion and Christianity and the New Year brings us with the inevitable question of ‘what is your New Year’s resolution?’ People tend to make the same New Year’s resolutions year on year yet find that they lose the motivation that they initially had when making such commitment. There are many religious similarities for these resolutions such as the Christian period of lent and Judaism’s New Year where they seek and offer forgiveness. You may seem confident in achieving your goal for New Year but there is in fact a very small success rate.
Some of these New Year’s traditions are popular than others such as improving one’s health; learning something new and spending more time with your family. These are the ones that are more likely to fail, although they are great, why not attempt something new this year? New Year is about having a fresh beginning and looking back on the previous year with the thought that the upcoming one is going to be a lot better. A great way to enhance your motivation and realise that this year is genuinely a fresh start is to alter your surroundings so that everything is new to you.
I am not implying that you move house or anything dramatic, as the current state of the economy makes that an over ambitious task, redecorating your house may be a simpler option. Post-Christmas sales are a great chance to discover affordable goods for refurnishing your home. Decorating your house gives you the opportunity to feel fresh in January and give you a lot more motivation for year ahead.
Whether you are planning on going all-out and redoing your whole house or decorating just one or two rooms, there are many different ways you could approach this. Firstly, it is imperative that you are organised before you get to the practical side of things; meaning you have less chance of getting stressed and flustered resulting in a bad start to the new year. Study shows that planning and list making are an excellent way of being organised so I would suggest that you plan out the rooms that you are decorating and the essentials you would need to do so. Once your plan is complete everything that follows should run smoothly.
Discovering the cheapest and long-enduring products could be a hard task, browsing the internet to broaden your horizons within the interior design world and searching your local shops for small priced items is a brilliant idea. There are many different styles of interior design and it could be hard to find your personal preferences – plenty of research should do the trick. Fortunately I have browsed many sites on the internet in an attempt to plan my new 2012 look in my abode and I have found one that fits all of my needs. Making redecorating the kitchen, bedroom and dining room my New Year’s resolution is now going to be an easier task now I have found everything I need all in one place.
